Statewide Gathering Success!

Saturday, August 29 - We had a good turnout at the park Saturday. Along with the Lexington 9/12ers, folks from Greenville, Spartanburg, Summerville, Pelion, Gilbert, the Northeast and Mount Pleasant joined us.

On the local political front, two folks from Nikki Haley's campaign for Governor stopped by as well as candidate for Senate Christina Jeffrey. Christina is running for the 2010 Race for SC 4th Congressional District. She could end up being a very viable candidate for Inglis’ seat. She has a couple websites, I found this one to have a lot of helpful information on it for those folks in her district to read.

Our friend and fellow Lexington 9/12er from ABATE attended and reminded us of the importance that like minded groups continue to meet with each other as it will take all of us, regardless of what group we belong to in order to make effective change.

We enjoyed friendship and food on the grill, great desserts and want to thank everyone who cooked, donated food and supplies. A good time was had by all.

On to D.C.!

It’s come to this: Clyburn compares town hall protesters to thugs who attacked civil rights marchers

The number three Democrat in the House, behind only Pelosi and Hoyer, and a longtime practitioner of toxic race-bating on behalf of his party. Unbelievable.
“I have seen this kind of hate before. I have seen this discussion before,” he said. “I have seen snarling dogs going after people who were trying to peacefully assemble. I have seen the eyes of people who were being spat upon.”
“This is all about activity trying to deny the establishment of a civil right. And I do believe that health care for all is — a civil right,” the House Majority Whip argued. “And I think that is why you see this kind of activity. This is an attempt on the part of some to deny the establishment of a civil right.”
Clyburn, a veteran of the civil rights movement, said he was particularly appalled by the use of the Swastika symbol at some of these town hall events. Noting that one had been painted on the office of Rep. David Scott (D-Ga.), an African-American, Clyburn insisted that was proof enough that some of the protests were racially motivated.
“There is no question in my mind,” he said.
This is a guy who’s so intimidated by the supposed terror tactics he’s witnessing that he’s actually been known to doze off at town halls of his own.

Letter to the Whitehouse by Idaho 9-12er

To the Whitehouse and President Barack Hussein Obama,

Re: August 4, 2009 Whitehouse Statement assaulting free speech and dissent.

Your statement on the Whitehouse web site today, August 4th, 2009 (fifth paragraph), is a direct affront to every American. It is a vile assault on the God-given right of every free American to speak his mind and to petition his government for redress. It is an abomination in the sight of God from which all life and freedom comes.

To quote you directly:

"There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov"

By this statement, you stand in direct and incontrovertible violation of your oath of office. This call for informants to report upon those who disagree with your plans is reminiscent of the police state tactics employed by some of the worst tyrannies the world has seen. It is reminiscent of the tyrannies that my father and those before him fought to destroy.

Therefore, I demand that this statement be retracted and further demand that you stand up and honor the oath you took upon entering Government service. Here it is again as a reminder:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; That I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion pledging my life, my fortune, and my sacred honor. So help me God. "

This is the oath that you swore upon taking office. This is the oath that my father before me swore and that I have sworn as well. That oath stands in stark contrast to the sickening statement on the Whitehouse page. You cannot have it both ways. Either you will retract that statement and apologize to all Americans, or you will reveal yourself and those behind you as oath breakers, breaking faith with the Constitution to which you swore to defend and bear true faith and allegiance. Your continued failure to honor your oath of office will only confirm what so many of us already know: that you and those who support you are in fact America’s domestic enemies.

I hereby serve notice to you that I, Ward Dorrity, stand in total opposition to you and your agenda; that the values I hold and the principles that guide me are in direct opposition to the destruction of our once great republican democracy. Murder of the unborn, treason and socialism are NOT family values. They are not MY values. They are crimes against God, Man, nature, justice and reason.

The Health Care reform plan is simply another one of those crimes. The Democratic House Plan is a monstrosity that will seriously erode overall health care in this nation; it will crush free enterprise in the health care industry, and thereby contribute to your destruction of the free market. I categorically reject any government plan - especially Cap and Trade - that threatens the American economy with destruction.

I am not afraid to stand up to this assault on our fundamental and God-given liberties. I will express these sentiments to all who will listen, and I will resist by every art, with every means and with all the skill that I possess those who would attempt to silence me.

It is my right by birth and by heritage; and by virtue of my citizenship in these United States.

It is my duty by virtue of the sacrifice of my father and all of those who have given their lives for love of God and country and liberty

I proudly announce my dissent, and stand forth as one who is speaking out against these plans to all I know and can reach, and as one who intends to continue to speak out against them irrespective of your wholly Un-American pronouncements to the contrary, so help me God.

I call on all loyal, faithful, patriotic, and God fearing Americans to stand against not only these bills, but against this new, dangerous tack taken by this administration. .

Sincerely,

Ward Dorrity

Town Halls gone wild (Click here for full story)

Screaming constituents, protesters dragged out by the cops, congressmen fearful for their safety — welcome to the new town-hall-style meeting, the once-staid forum that is rapidly turning into a house of horrors for members of Congress.
On the eve of the August recess, members are reporting meetings that have gone terribly awry, marked by angry, sign-carrying mobs and disruptive behavior. In at least one case, a congressman has stopped holding town hall events because the situation has spiraled so far out of control.

DeMint rips Obama from Senate floor (Click here for video)

U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint calls President Obama's health care plan radical and his chief economic policy a failure in an exchange of words between the politicians over the president's efforts to get a health care reform bill through Congress.

Frazier seeking Lexington House seat - Danny Frazier wants a new political title. The Lexington Town Councilman is running for state representative in the Republican primary in House District 69.

The district sprawls across a mix of established and new neighborhoods in West Columbia, Oak Grove, St. Andrews, the town of Lexington and the south-eastern shore of Lake Murray.
“It’s time state government stop the bickering and state working together to bring about economic development and jobs,” Frazier said in letter sent to voters.

Frazier, a builder, has been a town councilman for four years. Incumbent Ted Pitts is running for lieutenant governor.

Sen. David Thomas, R-Greenville is running for Congress, challenging Republican U.S. Rep. Bob Inglis for the 4th Congressional District seat.

Capitol to close weekends

South Carolina’s State House will no longer be open on the weekends. State Rep. Rex Rice said Friday a joint legislative committee that oversees the State House and its grounds has decided to lock up the Capitol outside of regular business hours to save the money it pays security guards to check visitors.
